Training
The Volunteer Center staff provide one-on-one consultation or training sessions to
nonprofit and public sector organizations to develop new volunteer programs or to
increase the effectiveness of existing programs.
Volunteer Management Training
The training curriculum is based on the Volunteer Management Training Series,
which was developed by the Points of Light Foundation and the Volunteer Center
National Network in 2002 for the exclusive use of Volunteer Centers that are
members of the Volunteer Center National Network. Business employee group volunteer
topics are incorporated throughout the training.
The training is conducted over two full days and includes the following topics:
Day One : Understanding Volunteering, Planning Your Volunteer Program and Engaging Staff, and Recruiting and Placing Volunteers
Day Two : Training Volunteers, Supervising Volunteers and Evaluating Your Volunteer Program
All volunteer coordinators who complete both days of this training will be
certified by Community Resource Network's Volunteer Center.
They will receive a certificate and their agency will receive a special
designation on the volunteer matching website,
www.chicagovolunteer.net
when they list their volunteer opportunities on the site.
In addition, their agencies will receive special designation with
Celebration of Caring, CRN's program for corporate employee volunteer groups.
